MATERIAL KITS
In addition to the comprehensive activity guide, each ASAP-HOSO Program includes an accompanying kit of materials. ASAP-HOSO kits feature materials that provide children with hands-on experience with the concept under exploration. Kits for each program topic include materials for all children to participate in every activity.
Materials kits are consumable-by the end of each session, all materials have been used by the children during class and taken home for display, discussion and recognition.
School year programs at the K-6 grade levels serve 12 students. Pre-K science and math programs serve 20. Summer programs at all grade levels serve 15.
ACTIVITY GUIDES
We provide adults with a step-by-step, yet adaptable, guide to the activities children will explore in each program. Each lesson includes questions to encourage further exploration during and after class.
Our user-friendly format means that adults with varying levels of experience in science or teaching can successfully lead classes. Guides are updated every three years with data from coordinators across the country.
TRAINING
We train adults with a variety of experience to lead small groups of children in a relaxed, inquiry-based environment. The 3 hour training prepares leaders to:
